VACANCY: Volunteer and Employment Co-ordinator £25KPA

    Do you want to play a key role in an innovative and exciting new volunteer and employment programme based in Liverpool?

    Following the success of the Manchester Cathedral Volunteer Programme, launched three years ago, the team are now scaling up on a UK basis with the support of NESTA, the Cabinet Office and Jobcentre Plus. The first new venue is Liverpool (Anglican) Cathedral.

    The aim is to create a community of stakeholders around an employment project building on the Cathedral's iconic position in the city. Volunteering is at the core of our approach, unemployed people choose to be involved as do our stakeholders and employers. By bringing Cathedrals, Jobcentre Plus, volunteering and employability together for the first time, our model is unique.

    We therefore need someone special who not only has a track record in supporting unemployed people in to work, but has the interpersonal and organisational skills to ensure the smooth day to day operations and implementation of the programme. You will also work closely with and be supported by a core team based in Manchester to successful 'Volition Community' model and make it work for Liverpool. The programme is fully inclusive and we welcome volunteers, and staff, from all backgrounds regardless of faith but you must have empathy towards the ethos of working within a Christian organisation.

    Key to our success is how we work with local employers, through partnerships nurtured by the Co-ordinator. You must have a high level of networking, communication and engagement skills to bring new employers on board, create new partnerships and develop existing connections to provide genuine opportunities to support our volunteers.

    · The role is working from offices in Liverpool Cathedral
    · Working hours - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (flexibility may be required)
    · 21 days annual leave
    · Comprehensive Benefits Package including pension and free parking,c £25k
    · Initial 12 month contract subject to continuation funding
